And although it may seem harmless and history may attribute little need for caution against such a product, we should nonetheless be wary of the dangers that it may pose.

My gut feel is that the largest problem (or concern of one) will come less from the effects on our vision by glass, and more from the radiation that glass emits. As Flyer28 said, never before have we had such a powerful device mounted right next to our brain and for periods as extensive as this.

The thing about Bluetooth headsets are that although they may emit significant amounts of radiation, we do not use them often and for prolonged periods of time. It just looks silly and is uncomfortable. Glass however presents a drastically different dynamic in that we will literally be accompanied by it for the majority of the day as is intended by Glass. We aren't meant to take them off and put them on whenever we require it. Part of it's design is the accessibility of Glass and the fact that we can call upon it for information whenever it is required by us. As a result, it is pretty truthful to say that we have little to no information about the long-term effects of such technology on the human brain. My bet though is the that the short-term effect of prolonged usage is going to simply be headaches. Whether that results from the radiation or having images displayed against your eye at a distance of an ant is completely up to speculation though.
I totally agree with you comistral. Radiation at the head area effects may be far more dangerous that eye strain... But we'll see probably after 15 years the long terms efects...

This is an important issue to discuss no doubt. I've thought about this myself a few times but the only real health risk I'm aware of at the moment is possible damage to the eyes. It's been said that Google Glass could strain your eyes and subsequently cause head aches. Google has also advised people who have undergone eye surgery in the past to avoid using the device, not to mention a for those under the age of 13 from using it for fears that it could negatively affect the eye's development. Regardless, a lot of study is being done on the health aspect of using glass and surely, Google will be transparent about it before they release glass to the general public.

This might shed more light on the issue.

I can't say I agree with you there. I work with some techy douches who wear Bluetooth headpieces all day at work, and I've seen strangers in the mall for example walking around with them, but not using them for calls and such. Maybe people should be more aware of the potential damaged of those habits.

Headaches could be bearable but that doesn't mean they aren't serious. Its a known fact that radiation can cause cancer, and head-aches are a way for the body to inform you that something is wrong.

I honestly don't see glass as a health threat. The worst case could be that some people may get headaches.

caparica does have a valid point actually, people respond differently to flashing lights and sounds, video games for example have been known to induce seizures in small percentage of the population, so health issues are a real concern.

Well in so much as there might be damage to our eyes, and the dangers of running into obstruction, or increased chances of accidents occuring, I don't think there will be much danger.
